What To Take After ENGL 1A

After 英语 1A, there are two options for taking a second composition course.

  • 英语2 fulfills GE Area A3 requirements. 业务 majors are required to take this course. 学生 whose major does not require ENGL 2 may take any approved A3 Gen Ed course. Here is a complete list of A3 Gen Ed courses.
  • 英语1 b satisfies GE Area C2: Letters. Some majors require ENGL 1B or the equivalent test 分数. These majors (with GE A3 waivers) include: Biochemistry, Marine Biology, Geology and 工程 (Aerospace, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, General, Industrial and Systems, Materials, Mechanical, Software). Please consult with your advisor to confirm your requirements.

  • Who participates in this exercise?

    If you have satisfied 英语 1A already (through AP, CLEP, or IB test 分数s or with a community college course), you will use the 决策图表[pdf] to choose your second 写作 course.

  • What if I am waiting to find out if I have 审查信贷 for entry-level college 写作?

    If you are waiting for test 分数s (AP, IB, CLEP), be sure to submit relevant test 分数s and transcripts.  For inquiries, contact supportedinstruction@hzjly.net. You can still complete the Reflection on College Writing and register your choice, given what you learn about your capacity to respond to the college reading and 写作 tasks. Later, if your test 分数s earn you credit, you can adjust your choice at registration.

  • How are Sparta Camp and this exercise related?

    You need to use the chart to prepare yourself for Sparta Camp. 的第二天 orientation, you will register for classes. You need to know which 写作 course 你将会.

  • Is there a prerequisite to enrolling in my second 写作 course?

    英语 1A is the prerequisite for any of the second 写作 course options. 你满足 that prerequisite when 你赚 credit in 英语 1A or an equivalent course, or when 你赚 审查信贷 英语1A.
