B.S. 化学工程
化学 Engineers combine science with engineering technology to make an essential contribution to many industries, including biotechnology, semiconductor 处理, environmental engineering, manufacturing and industrial chemicals. The 化学 工程 degree also provides a strong foundation for graduate degrees in a range of disciplines. The Department has excellent 实验室设备 for courses and student research. Our undergraduate program prepares students to enter the chemical engineering profession or to pursue a research career.
Because of the broad spectrum of industries that chemical engineers contribute to, we offer specialization in five 跟踪, based on the electives the students choose: (a) Biochemical engineering; (b) Semiconductor 处理; (c) Environmental Health and 安全; (d) Polymer/Ceramics 处理; (e)能源.
The Biochemical engineering program is a blend of traditional engineering and subjects in the biological sciences with specially developed biochemical engineering courses 和实验室. 化学工程师 in biotechnology work on projects related to pharmaceuticals and genetically engineered materials for diagnostics and treatment, and food and chemical 处理. For students 感兴趣ed in Semiconductor 处理, manufacturing opportunities are in semiconductor fabrication, electronics, analytical equipment, and 处理 equipment for the production of inorganic and specialty chemicals. 化学工程师 play a big role in both conventional and renewable energy fields including oil and gas, batteries, and also sustainable manufacturing and life cycle management. 化学 Engineers working in the environmental area are responsible for control of air pollution, remediation of contaminated water, hazardous materials management, waste reduction, industrial health and safety, risk analysis, and regulation.
